Moore Street works - February 2026
We’ve been working to improve bus priority at Moore Street roundabout to make bus journeys into the city centre more reliable. Part of our Connecting Sheffield: Abbeydale Road and Ecclesall Road project, we’ve now completed this phase of work. From Friday 13 February, the new road layout will mean buses can get into the lane they need without obstruction from general traffic. If you’re driving in the area, please look out for new signage and be aware of new traffic signal routines.Thank you for your patience while we’ve been working in this area.

Arundel Gate works - May 2026
As part of our continued improvement works in the city centre, we will soon be changing our work areas on Arundel Gate. This will mean general traffic will travel slightly differently, and there will also be some changes to where you get on and off some bus services along Arundel Gate. What work is happening? From Monday 11 May, we will be working near bus stop AG13 on Arundel Gate. The stop is outside the Sheffield Hallam University Adsetts Centre. We will fill in the existing bus layby in this area. This is to make waiting facilities better for bus passengers, and to further improve bus priority along Arundel Gate so journeys are more reliable. We will also add a new bus stop in this area. From Tuesday 12 May, we will be widening the footway outside Sheffield Hallam University’s Stoddart Building too. This will create more space for people walking and wheeling. By widening the footway, the pedestrian crossing distance will be shorter too. We will also be working here to add planting to make the area more attractive, and create a two-way cycle route which will link to existing facilities at Charles Street and at Howard Street.Journeys towards Furnival SquareSo our teams can work safely, we will need to close lanes in different places on Arundel Gate. If you are driving from Castle Square towards Furnival Square during the work, the road will narrow just before The Lyceum to one lane in this direction. At Howard Street, traffic will move onto the other side of the carriageway, with one lane running in each direction to Furnival Square roundabout. The change to traffic movements on the section between Howard Street and Furnival Square roundabout will be in place from 12am on Tuesday 12 May.During the work, we will need to suspend bus stop AG13. All services that currently use AG13 will arrive and depart from AG12 instead. AG12 is located further along Arundel Gate, by Castle Square. We will also need to suspend bus stops CS3 and CS4 outside the Genting Casino. All services that currently use these stops will use CS2 outside Derwent House instead. To get up to date information about your bus service, please check your journey on the Travel South Yorkshire website: https://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/Journeys towards Castle SquareIf you are travelling towards Castle Square for access to a business or property, there will be narrow two-way traffic lanes on this side of the road, to allow for the safe work area outside the Stoddart Building. The bus gate on Arundel Gate will remain active during the works, and you’ll need to use Furnival Gate roundabout to divert during this period. The taxi rank outside the Genting Casino will continue to be in use during the work.We expect the work at the AG13 bus stop, near The Lyceum, to take around six weeks to complete. If you have any questions about the project, you can contact us using the details below.
