This theme focuses on enhancing the environment to make it greener, cleaner, and safer for residents. Our approach involves collaborating with services, partners, and residents to identify areas within the North-East wards that require improvement and regeneration. We will implement pilot projects aimed at improving the street scene, supporting volunteers, and conducting educational and awareness campaigns on recycling, environmental sustainability, and public health.
Our priorities for this theme:
To maintain a clean local environment
To work together to promote responsible waste disposal and recycling
To help people be more environmentally friendly and sustainable
To tackle the environmental health issues across the area
Ongoing Projects
Dog Fouling Campaign: We are continuing to look for dog fouling hot spots where correx and vinyl signs can be displayed to remind people to clean up after their dogs.
Environmental Stewardship Project: This project continues to run in the North East with six new stewards working alongside an Amey supervisor to help clean up and maintain bits of land that are overgrown.
Litter Pickers and Volunteers Project: We are continuing to support volunteers and litter picking groups by providing them with the adequate litter picking equipment.
Green Network: Regular events where volunteers, service providers and council officers can meet to offer each other support and share advice.
Little Pickers: A school-based project supporting schools with environmental awareness.
Projects coming up
Land Project: A project mapping out the pockets of land where there is fly-tipping and where housing land is being sold.
Adopt a street:The goal of this project is to recruit a team of volunteers dedicated to taking positive action to improve their local streets, creating a safer and cleaner Sheffield for everyone.
