Tenant and Resident Associations (TARAs) in Sheffield are funded by the Tenant Levy. The Levy is a voluntary 10p per week paid to the Council by tenants, alongside their rent. Tenants can opt out of paying the levy, although the majority choose to be part of the scheme.
The Levy payments collected are passed on by the Council to the TARAs to support their community-based activities. Each TARA covers a particular area of Sheffield, and the amount received by each one depends on how many tenants their area covers. The TARAs are able to spend the Levy money on activities and projects they believe will benefit the tenants in their area.
The Levy has been set at 10p per week for quite some years. Some TARAs believe this amount should be increased so that they can have more money to spend on their community activities. This review is being carried out to find out if tenants and other TARAs would also like the Levy charge to be increased, and also to get their views on other aspects of the Levy.
To help with this review, please take a few minutes to complete our survey below. There are just 6 questions to answer, and your views will help decide how the Levy is managed in the future.
The closing date for the survey is Sunday 20th April 2025.
If you have any questions about this survey, or about TARAs or the Tenant Levy in general, please use the Questions Box below. You can also see what questions other people have asked, and the answers given - your question may already have been answered
