Consultation has concluded
We are seeking your views on the proposed variation to taxi licensing fees.
Overview
On 19th July 2024, the Council’s Waste and Street Scene Committee approved a report to consult on new fees and charges for driver, vehicle, and operator licences.
The Licensing Service is consulting on the proposed fees between 12th September 2024 and 9th October 2024.
The consultation is split into the following three sections:
Section A - Proposed Fees
Section B - Customer Service Experience Programme
Section C - About you
To take part in the consultation, please complete the survey found at the bottom of this page.
Why are we consulting?
Legislation allows the Council to charge fees for the grant of licenses in respect of:
Private Hire Vehicles
Hackney Carriage Vehicles
Private Hire & Hackney Carriage Drivers
Private Hire Operators
Licence fees were last reviewed in 2016. During this period, Licensing Service costs have increased due in part to an increase in statutory requirements. This has resulted in the Service running at a financial deficit.
The Licensing Service is consulting on the proposed fees from 12th September 2024. You can access the survey from that date by a link below. Any comments must be received within 28 days.
Consultation documents
We have attached the following documents for information:
Proposed Fees - Driver, Vehicle and Operator
Taxi Licensing Fee Report
Budget Schedules
The documents may help you in completing the survey questions.

Once the consultation has closed, all views will be considered and given proper weight.
Should there be objections to the proposed licence fee changes, a report detailing the objections will be presented to Sheffield City Council's Waste & Street Scene Policy Committee in due course.
The Waste & Street Scene Policy Committee will then consider the report, including any objections, and set the final licence fees.
