Homeless Young People's Supported Accommodation Consultation

Local Councils fund supported accommodation. This is to help people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, with support needs, find a safe and stable place to live.

This type of housing includes not just a roof over someone’s head, but provides access to housing related support. This helps people rebuild their lives and sustain housing in the longer term—such as help with budgeting, accessing healthcare, or finding work.

By offering both housing and support, Councils aim to prevent repeat homelessness, promote independence, and ensure that public money is used effectively. This consultation asks for your views on how supported accommodation could be funded to best meet the needs of our young people (under 25s).

The Council funds a range of services to meet the needs of young people. Some of these are provided by organisations outside the Council, and every organisation funded holds a contract for a set period of time. The contracts that end in 2027 are below. We would like to know what type of services you think we should fund in the future.

Small hostel (14 units) supporting young women up to the age of 25 and their children where applicable.

Two hostels (one large, one small) for young people aged 16-21 who have medium to high support needs.

The Guinness Partnership

Large hostel (64 units) for young people aged 16-25 who have low to medium support needs.
