Section 1: Brown bin collection service

On a typical collection day, how full is your brown bin when it is due to be emptied?

Government plans to increase recycling will mean that from 31 March 2026, plastic pot, tubs and trays, aluminium foil, aerosols and cartons will be collected for recycling, with the addition of plastic films from 31 March 2027.  These materials will be collected alongside the glass, cans and plastic bottles currently collected in the brown bin.  

 

Plastic pots, tubs and trays
Aluminium foil (e.g. food trays)
Aerosol cans
Cartons (tetra pac)
Plastic bags and wrapping (e.g. carrier bags, bread bags, breakfast cereal liners)

We are considering options to increase the amount of collection capacity provided to make sure you have enough space in your bins to be able to recycle these additional materials.
