on Blackburn Meadows Way from Wednesday 18 March 2026
Connecting Sheffield: Magna - Tinsley aims to provide better access to opportunities in Meadowhall, Rotherham and Sheffield for people living in Tinsley. By creating dedicated spaces for walking, wheeling and cycling and upgrading key junctions, we want to give you more choice in how you travel - especially for shorter, everyday journeys. The project is designed to to make walking, wheeling and cycling easier between Rotherham, Tinsley, Meadowhall and Sheffield. Upcoming works on Blackburn Meadows Way We are continuing to work at the junction of Blackburn Meadows Way and Sheffield Road. From Wednesday 18 March, we will start to install a new kerb and a new pedestrian crossing on the central island at the junction. To complete the work safely, we need to close Blackburn Meadows Way to traffic travelling towards Meadowhall for around one week. The closure will be in place on weekdays only, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. This means that peak‑time and school bus services, like the 76a, can run as usual. Bus diversions Bus services that usually use Blackburn Meadows Way will be diverted between Meadowhall and Tinsley. The diversion will be via Meadowhall Way - Vulcan Road - Sheffield Road - Tinsley Roundabout - Sheffield Road. The 207 towards Meadowhall (approaching from St Lawrence Road) and the X3 in both directions (running through Templeborough) will be affected by the diversion. The diversion will be clearly signposted, and drivers should follow the same route. You can find up to date travel information on the Travel South Yorkshire website. We’ll keep you updated on the works on this page.
