The Licensing Service is reviewing its policy on private hire vehicle signage and we are now seeking your views.
Overview
The Licensing Service is responsible for the regulation of licensed private hire vehicles. In administering the regime, the Licensing Service has a publicly available private hire operator and vehicle licence policy. The Licensing Service is reviewing the private hire vehicle signage contained within this policy and is seeking comments.
Why are we consulting?
The current policy on private hire vehicle signage was last reviewed in November 2022 as part of the wider private hire operator and vehicle licence policy review.
In November 2023, the Department for Transport released the 'Taxi and private hire vehicle licensing best practice guidance for licensing authorities in England' which set out recommendations for vehicle identification and signage.
The Licensing Service is now reviewing its policy on private hire vehicle signage and is consulting on the proposed changes.
The consultation will open on 24th March 2025 for a period of 28 days.
