Consultation has concluded

The PlayZones survey has now closed. The results are now available and the reports can be found on the 'Documents' tab. Thank you to all those who took part.

Sheffield City Council are working in partnership with the Football Foundation on the new PlayZones Programme, and we need your input!

This is an exciting new project looking at renovating old Multi-Use Games Areas [MUGAs] into PlayZones and building new PlayZones from scratch. This project aims to tackle inequalities in physical activity and provide access to high-quality community facilities in local, accessible spaces. We are looking to find out more about how people feel about this proposal and learn what needs to be included in the project to make it work for your local area.

As this is a new type of MUGA currently unseen elsewhere in the country, we are looking to develop a very small number of these sites in the first instance to make sure we develop, activate, and learn from them alongside the local community. We are really open to ideas, suggestions and feedback to help guide the project.

The first parks site we are looking to develop is Ecclesfield Park.

How to share your feedback:

Community Questionnaire: this is the formal means to log your feedback to a set of questions that the team working on this project will use to make decisions on next steps

Community sessions delivery partners questionnaire: a survey for groups and organisations to share feedback and ideas on how they would like to hire and book the facility.

Ideas Page: Informal way to quickly share ideas for what sessions you would like to take part in on a PlayZone.

Questions Page: If you have any questions about any aspect of the PlayZones project, please share them on this page as a member of the team will be in touch to answer.

Guestbook: On this page you can share feedback on the different types of activity spaces in Parks.

Aim of this consultation:

- Outline what a PlayZone is and how they are different to traditional MUGAs

- Understand how you feel about this type of project and if this is something you would like to have near you

- Hear your thoughts on the proposed location of Ecclesfield Park

- Gather ideas, thoughts and feedback on the project to influence next steps

PlayZones vs Traditional MUGAs

There are a couple of key differenced between a PlayZone and a traditional Multi-use Games Area (MUGA) . We would like to hear your thoughts on which you would prefer to use and what other key differences you think there are.

I would love basketball to be a massive part of the play zone with high quality hoops and a constant upkeep of the grounds and nets. I am part of an organisation that organises community events through basketball. We engage young people and ethnic minorities in the city of Sheffield. We put on basketball tournaments with live local music artists performing and guest speakers talking about community issues and ways of tackling them. We have a vision of doing an outside event and think your play zones would be great for something like this. Many parks in Sheffield have installed really high level basketball courts which has brought the basketball community from far and wide to their parks so I think this could be great for Ecclesfield. I live in the Ecclesfield parish so would love our area to lead the way in improving the city with your playzones. I think it is important for the play zone to be free to use given the current climate and the importance of giving youth something to focus their energy on with easy access. If you would like an more information please give me an email. Thank you, Reece Eschoe
