Have Your Say on Housing Performance Targets
We want to hear from council housing tenants. Please tell us what you think about how we set our targets for housing services. This will help us to improve housing services for everyone.
What is this about?
We check how well our housing service is doing by using “performance measures”. For example, how quickly we do repairs, how safe homes are or how we deal with your complaints.
A “target” is the result we aim to reach. Targets help us plan, check progress, and improve.
We try to set targets that are:
- Based on facts and good data.
- In line with rules we must follow.
- High enough to drive improvements (but still possible).
- Easy to understand.
What we are looking at for 2026-2027
- For some measures, we may decide to set targets every 3 months (quarterly) as well as for the whole year.
- We will compare our results with other councils and landlords where we can.
- We will explain more clearly how we choose targets.
- We want tenants to help shape how we set targets.
How we set targets
When we think about setting targets, we usually look at a few things:
- What happened in the past (our results in recent months and years).
- How other similar landlords are doing (when we can compare).
- How difficult the service is to deliver and what risks there are.
- Any rules that we must follow, e.g. safety checks.
- What tenants tell us matters the most.
Yearly and quarterly targets
Some things change a lot throughout the year. For these measures we might use quarterly targets as a well as a target for the whole year. This helps us to spot problems sooner and fix them faster.
Safety targets
For building safety measures, like gas and fire checks, we aim for 100%. This means that every home that needs a check should get one.
Comparing with others
When we can, we compare out results with other similar landlords. This helps us to choose targets that are fair but ambitious.
Now and next
- We are looking at our results for 2025-2026 for all of our measures.
- We are checking how close they are to the targets we set a year ago.
- We are drafting new targets for 2026-2027.
- We will soon share these targets with tenants and councillors.
- We will use the feedback we get to refine our targets for 2026-2027 and make them public.
Have Your Say
It will be very helpful for us if you could complete the survey on this page, please.
There are no right or wrong answers. Your responses will help us to set targets that make sense to tenants, so that you can check how we are performing.
Check back on this page to see the results of the survey and how tenants have contributed to target setting.
