We are continuing with the Litter Picking Project which aims to promote a cleaner, more looked-after Local Area. We have free litter picking equipment available to anyone wanting to litter pick or anyone involved in litter picking with a 'Friends of' group or litter picking group. The equipment includes: trugs, hoops, gloves, rakes, wire cutters, secateurs, loopers, trolleys, yard brushes, high-vis and stickers.
If you or anyone you know are interested in keeping their community clean, you can now access free litter picking equipment from participating local libraries (Firth Park Library, Parsons Cross Library). If you know any groups or volunteers who would benefit from some litter picking equipment, please get in touch with the LAC team.
To develop the Litter Pickers and Volunteers Project further, we will continue our partnership with schools in the North-East of Sheffield. By loaning schools some litter picking equipment, we hope to help educate younger generations in looking after their Local Area. This project is still in the early planning stages, so keep an eye out for any updates.
To promote cleaner streets in the North-East Local Area, Sheffield City Council and its Local Areas have teamed up with Sheffield artist Luke Horton to encourage people to take their litter home. This approach has had a positive impact, which is why we hope to develop this further. Look out for more advertising!
