Come join in the conversation and HAVE YOUR SAY!

Are you interested in how Adult Social Care is involving people with lived experience in decision making, the designing, evaluating, and creation of purposeful services across Sheffield?

Citizen involvement approaches such as co-production play a key role within Adult Care & Wellbeing (ACW) – it's already part of the agenda. We have great examples of “user led” work such as The Dignity Awards, which devolves decision making to the people of Sheffield and our Co-production Charter produced with the Service Improvement Forum.

"We know it’s the right thing to do and want to hear your views and experiences, to help shape what citizen involvement within AWC should look like going forward."

The Big Questions include:-

Q How could and should we involve the local community within AWC?
Q What should co-production and other types of involvement look like?
Q How can we align the full spectrum of involvement with SCC’s principles and values?

How the workshop will run:

The workshop will run in 3 parts, facilitated by our independent partner South Yorkshire Housing Association (SYHA) who have a wide range of experience in co-production and community involvement as a whole, including their Together with Tenants initiative, and lead roles in programmes such as Sheffield’s Changing Futures, Well Rotherham and Age Friendly Sheffield (in partnership with SCC).

Part 1: Introduction to the Citizens Involvement Project and involvement approaches
Following a welcome from Head of Commissioning, Catherine Bunten, we will tell you about the upcoming Citizens Involvement Project and its Involvement Festival. We'll then introduce the full spectrum of involvement including co-production, examining how this aligns with SCC’s values and unpacking the different aspects and elements.

Part 2: The Breakout sessions
You will be invited to join small breakout discussions to dig a little deeper, which you can choose in advance.

Breakout A: introduction to different types of involvement - for those new to the topic

Breakout B: reviewing our existing co-production charter - for staff with involvement experience

Part 3: Reviewing ACW's involvement culture
We will the explore together where we are at as a Social Care and Wellbeing service in terms of involvement good practice, and what needs to happen to develop and embed an involvement culture. We'll also consider how we might align involvement with service need and resolve any gaps in citizen and partner voice.

This is only the first step of this programme - an exciting Festival of Involvement is planned for June & July 2023 where we will be having a range of conversations with the local community to explore how we can work together to shape and improve adult social care.

The festival will kick off with a community launch on Tuesday 6th June followed by a series of themed sessions.

We would love to see you at May’s main staff session, but don’t worry if you can’t make it, as we will be running the session again as part of the festival itself!

Become part of the wider project

If citizen involvement is something that you feel passionate about, maybe you’d like to be part of the Citizen Involvement Project coproduction group which will run September-October 23 to design a new approach to involvement for adult social care in Sheffield. You can express your interest at the workshop or email: kate.damiral@sheffield.gov.uk
