We want your views on our proposal to introduce flexible tenancies!
We are considering implementing flexible tenancies on two specific housing schemes and would like to hear your views.
Flexible tenancies are a type of secure tenancy that last for a specific period of time instead of continuing with no end date. We are exploring their use to ensure council housing is available for those who need it most.
You can find more information on what flexible tenancies are and how we propose to use them in the supporting Flexible Tenancies Factsheet. This will help you understand the proposals and how they support the Council Plan.
The factsheet should help you answer the below questions and share your views.
You have until 17th November 2025 to complete the survey.
What we're asking you to comment on:
Based on our housing priorities and national guidance, we are proposing to introduce flexible tenancies alongside existing tenancy types. We want your views on:
Whether using flexible tenancies is a good option for these two schemes
How flexible tenancies might benefit tenants compared to licences and non-secure tenancies
How flexible tenancies could help the Council manage housing fairly and effectively
Any concerns or issues you think we should consider before making a decision
How your feedback will be used:
We will use your views and comments to shape our final decision for using flexible tenancies on these two schemes. We will carefully consider what you tell us and any concerns you may have. Your feedback will be used to make sure any decision is fair and meets the needs of tenants.
After the consultation ends, we will write a consultation report which sets out your views and how we have used your feedback. This report will be shared with decision-makers before any final decision is made.
