Tenant and Leaseholder Engagement Strategy
Please complete our short survey to tell us what you think!
Over the last few months, hundreds of tenants and leaseholders - alongside staff and local councillors - have shared their views on how residents want to be involved in decisions about their homes, neighbourhoods and housing services.
You told us what works well, what needs to improve, and how more people can get involved and have their say.
Working closely with national tenant engagement experts Tpas, we have used this feedback to create a new draft Tenant and Leaseholder Engagement Strategy. It is attached to this page - either to the right or towards the bottom depending on the device you are using.
The strategy explains how we will work with residents in the years ahead. It aims to make engagement more inclusive, give residents a stronger voice, support local involvement, improve scrutiny, and show how feedback leads to action.
The strategy focuses on five priorities that residents told us are important:
- Making engagement inclusive and open to all.
- Using resident feedback to help shape decisions.
- Showing what has changed as a result of feedback.
- Improving local involvement.
- Strengthening resident scrutiny and challenge.
Now we want to know if we have got it right. Please click on the 'Take Survey' button below to give us your feedback.
Why are we consulting?
This is your chance to review the draft strategy before it is approved.
Whether you are already involved in resident groups or have never shared your views before, we want to hear from you.
Our survey asks if the strategy is clear, easy to understand and focused on the right issues. We also want your views on our engagement priorities, local involvement, Tenant and Resident Associations (TARAs), and if anything is missing from the Strategy which you think should be included.
The survey should take around 10 minutes to complete. The closing date is Sunday 22 November 2026.
Your feedback will help us improve the final strategy, which will be presented to the Housing Policy Committee in January 2027. We will share the outcomes of the consultation, and the final strategy, on this page in January.
Your views will help make sure that resident voices continue to influence housing services in Sheffield.
