Consultation has concluded

The PlayZones survey has now closed. The results are now available and the reports can be found on the 'Documents' tab. Thank you to all those who took part.

Sheffield City Council are working in partnership with the Football Foundation on the new PlayZones Programme, and we need your input!

This is an exciting new project looking at renovating old Multi-Use Games Areas [MUGAs] into PlayZones and building new PlayZones from scratch. This project aims to tackle inequalities in physical activity and provide access to high-quality community facilities in local, accessible spaces. We are looking to find out more about how people feel about this proposal and learn what needs to be included in the project to make it work for your local area.

As this is a new type of MUGA currently unseen elsewhere in the country, we are looking to develop a very small number of these sites in the first instance to make sure we develop, activate, and learn from them alongside the local community. We are really open to ideas, suggestions and feedback to help guide the project.

The first parks site we are looking to develop is Ecclesfield Park.

How to share your feedback:

Community Questionnaire: this is the formal means to log your feedback to a set of questions that the team working on this project will use to make decisions on next steps

Community sessions delivery partners questionnaire: a survey for groups and organisations to share feedback and ideas on how they would like to hire and book the facility.

Ideas Page: Informal way to quickly share ideas for what sessions you would like to take part in on a PlayZone.

Questions Page: If you have any questions about any aspect of the PlayZones project, please share them on this page as a member of the team will be in touch to answer.

Guestbook: On this page you can share feedback on the different types of activity spaces in Parks.

Aim of this consultation:

- Outline what a PlayZone is and how they are different to traditional MUGAs

- Understand how you feel about this type of project and if this is something you would like to have near you

- Hear your thoughts on the proposed location of Ecclesfield Park

- Gather ideas, thoughts and feedback on the project to influence next steps

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

This consultation is open to all.

We are proposing a PlayZone be developed on the area next to the new tennis courts in the park. This would help further develop the physical activity space available in Ecclesfield Park and pair well with the recent enhancements seen elsewhere in the park. As there will be a level of income generation from the hired use of PlayZones, we want to use this to not only ensure the PlayZone remains well looked after, but also to support with the upkeep and maintenance of the existing MUGA in the park. We have heard from previous consultations that the current MUGA is well loved but under used due to the quality of the space.

The aim of this survey is to:

    • Gather your views on the PlayZones project
    • Understand what we would need to do to make the project work for you and your community
    • Hear ideas for what types of sessions, activities and types of use would be welcomed on a PlayZone in Ecclesfield
