Our service manages over 38,000 council homes and supports sustainable tenancies for people in Sheffield. We also support around 3,000 leaseholders and regulate the 60,000 homes in the private rented sector, including student homes.

We deliver a £600 million capital investment programme and a major Stock Increase Programme and are a key contributor to a more sustainable Sheffield. We invest in high-quality new homes, helping to improve the carbon efficiency of homes across Sheffield.

On this page you'll find information about who manages each of our teams and how to contact them if you have a housing-related query or problem.

The interim Director of Housing is Chris Ellison and his email address is: chris.ellison@sheffield.gov.uk

The Housing Service is made up of five key service areas:

Neighbourhood Services

We are made up of 6 local neighbourhood teams, managing our council estates and homes on a day-to-day basis. We have an overarching aim to support sustainable tenancies and successful neighbourhoods for the people of Sheffield. Our Head of Service is Dean Fearon and his email address is dean.fearon2@sheffield.gov.uk

Neighbourhood Intervention and Tenant Support

We cover five main housing functions - rent collection and support, tenancy enforcement and sustainment, tenant involvement, regulation of standards in private housing and performance management. Our Head of Service is Darryl Smedley and his email address is darryl.smedley@sheffield.gov.uk

Repairs and Maintenance and Service

We are responsible for responsive repairs, cyclical maintenance (such as the painting programme and gas servicing) and planned programmes of work to Council homes. Our Head of Service is Ben Gothard, and his email address is ben.gothard@sheffield.gov.uk

Investment and Estates

We are responsible for managing and improving the quality of our council housing properties. We also contribute to the Council's ambition of increasing the number of available council housing properties, and manage the delivery of property adaptations for those residents with additional needs. Our Head of Service is Dean Butterworth and his email address is dean.butterworth@sheffield.gov.uk

City Wide Housing

Our services are responsible for helping to reducing homelessness in Sheffield, managing council housing schemes for older people, overseeing the rehousing of tenants into council properties and the provision of supported and temporary housing for those with specific needs. We also develop the city's housing strategy. Our Head of Service is Suzanne Allen and her email address is suzanne.allen@sheffield.gov.uk
