Sheffield City Council Equality Objectives 2024-28 - Equality is Everyone's Business
Consultation has concluded
As a result of this survey, we have composed a report which set out our proposals for our new Equality Objectives, this was signed off on 12th March by the Council’s Strategy and Resources Committee. You can read this full report here or in the Documents section (right) > Strategy and Resources Policy Committee > Item 6 > Equality Framework – Equality is Everyone’s Business PDF 262 KB.
Following on from this we will soon be updating our Equality Objectives website with the new Objectives. You will also be able to find us reporting on our performance against our Equality Objectives yearly in our Annual Report.
Sheffield is a friendly, vibrant, culturally diverse, and inclusive city. We put people at the heart of what we do and our new Equality Objectives will support us to continue to do this. We are committed to promoting equality, opportunities and fairness inside our organisation, through our services and across the city. We actively challenge racism and all form of discrimination.
We are passionate about the prosperity of our city, our people, and our planet.
We will promote and support our diverse communities, building good relationships and cohesion, where everyone feels welcome and connected and can benefit from and contribute to the growth of our city.
Equality is about everyone, but people are individuals, and their needs will be met and opportunities realised in different ways. Some people, especially those facing vulnerability or additional barriers, will need a bit more support from us than others.
Our draft statutory Equality Objectives will collectively ensure a strong and focused approach to improving equality, diversity and inclusion across all protected characteristics and equality groups for the next four years. Each of the three Equality Objectives has three Goals to support their achievement.
We will also monitor our performance against our Goals in a new action plan and report via our annual equality report and through the Council performance framework.
