Traffic Regulation Orders - September 2026
Following the public consultation on our plans for Connecting Sheffield: Townhead Street and Leopold Street in February and March 2026, we are now ready to advertise the Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) for this project.
TROs are legal documents that allow councils to change the way roads are used.
We are proposing Orders to introduce:
- One Way Traffic on part of Townhead Street
- One Way Traffic (except cycles) on parts of Holly Street and Leopold Street
- One Way Traffic (except Trams) on Church Street
- Prohibition of Right Hand Turn on part of Holly Street and Leopold Street
- Prohibition of Motor Vehicles except for loading 18:00 to 00:00 and 00:00 to 10:00 on part of Orchard Street
- Prescribed Right Hand Turn on parts of Church Street and West Street
- Prescribed Left Hand Turn on part of West Street
- Prescribed Ahead Only on part of West Street
- Bus Gate on part of West Street
And we are proposing Orders to remove:
- One Way Traffic on parts of Leopold Street and Townhead Street
- One Way Traffic (except cycles) on part of Holly Street
- Prohibition of Right Hand Turn on part of Holly Street and Townhead Street
- Prohibition of Driving except for Buses on part of Church Street
- Prescribed Ahead Only on part of Leopold Street
- Prohibited U-Turn on part of Leopold Street
- Prescribed Right Hand Turn except for Tramcars on part of West Street
- Bus Gate on parts of Church Street, Leopold Street and West Street
