Project Update - July 2026

The Connecting Sheffield: Townhead Street and Leopold Street project is part of Sheffield City Council’s Connecting Sheffield programme. The project aims to create a safer, more attractive and better-connected street environment that is easier for people to move around and spend time in. We will also make it easier, safer and more attractive for people to walk, wheel, cycle and use public transport across the city.

Following our public consultation in February and March 2026, you can now read out full consultation report on the feedback we received.

Our next step is to take the findings of the consultation exercise and update our designs based on feedback received. Later this year, we will share a summary of these changes as we develop our proposals further.

Following strong support for the project, we will look to begin to advertise Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO). TROs are legal documents that allow councils to change the way roads are used. We will keep you up to date on this webpage. We will advertise TROs on-street and by directly writing to residents and businesses in the area.
