Further ground investigations - May 2026

We need carry out some work in the area following the consultation we recently completed on plans to improve Rock Street, Nottingham Street and surrounding streets.

We have recently done some parking surveys and ground surveys to get more information to help us develop plans further. We now need to dig up to 12 holes in the pavements to get more detailed information about where cables and pipes are underground.

This information will help us plan the design and build of the improvements we’re planning as part of the Connecting Sheffield: Burngreave project, should it go ahead.

This work is expected to start from 28 May 2026 and should last for around two weeks. Our contractor will dig holes in pavements near junctions along the full length of Rock Street and Nottingham Street, between Denholme Close and Christ Church Road.

We will do our best to keep disruption to a minimum. However, people walking or wheeling may be asked to use short diversions around the works. Please take extra care when travelling in the area, look out for signage and be considerate of other people using the roads and pavements.
