Does your organisation have experience of community asset transfer or having a long-term lease on a building or land?
Is this something you are interested in or would like to consider for the future?
Or perhaps you support organisations thinking about these options.
We would like to hear from you.
Our short survey should only take 10 minutes to complete (See Survey Link Below)
The council has produced an Interim Community Buildings Policy. The policy is interim as we want to take some time to make sure we get our approach right. This includes working with local third sector organisations and talking to other authorities and partners to learn from their experience and best practice.
Our policy talks about using and leasing community buildings, including community asset transfer. Community asset transfer is when the council transfers ownership of as asset e.g. a building or land into community ownership, via a third sector organisation. Our interim policy allows for long term leases, up to a maximum of 125 years, for most purposes e.g. applying for large funding grants, an asset transfer is classed as any lease over 25 years.
You can find a full copy of the policy on this page. we have also produced a short summary version relating to Community Asset Transfers.
We know third sector organisations and communities are busy doing great work to support local people and provide vital services. But if you can take 10 minutes to complete this survey, we would really appreciate it. We want to hear about your experience, learning and suggestions on how we can best approach this work. The survey is anonymous.
If you would welcome a conversation too, we’re happy to come and meet with groups and individuals, please get in touch and we can arrange something.
Alternative formats: if you require any of the documents or survey in an alternative format please let us know.
