Have your say on the draft Communities Strategy

Your answers to these questions about the draft Communities Strategy will help us to know if we are heading in the right direction, and how we can improve the strategy to meet the needs of all communities in Sheffield. We really value your feedback!

It helps if you've read the draft strategy or the summary, but you will also read parts of the strategy in the survey.

There are some equalities questions at the end of the survey which will help us to check that we're representing everyone's views. You can skip these if you would prefer not to answer.

This is a closed survey and your responses will be anonymous.

What do we mean by "community"?

When you read the questions in this survey, we use the word "community" a lot. When we use this word we mean groups of people who share experiences and who are connected by something they have in common.

Communities can come together around different things, for example:

- A place, for example, people who live in Arbourthorne, Stannington or Page Hall

- Interests, where people enjoy doing things together or work together towards a shared goal, like a football team, a knitting group or protecting the environment

- Identity, for example, people who speak the same language or share a cultural background

People can belong to different communities at the same time, and some people might not feel like they are part of any community.

The aim of this strategy

We have written an aim for the strategy that sets out what we want to achieve by 2035.

“We are a Council that works for all communities in Sheffield, helping to create welcoming, safe and healthy communities, in which everyone is able to contribute to city life and can influence and take action on the things that matter to them.”
