City centre journey surveys - April 2026

Following approval of our City Centre Access and Movement Plan in December, we will be doing some city centre journey surveys in May to support future proposals.

The surveys will be done by cameras which will be installed from Monday 11 May. They will record data for all trips that enter and leave the city centre. Cameras will be installed in 37 locations on the edge of the city centre boundary.

We will count all journeys made in these ways:

Walking
Cycling
Mobility vehicles (including wheelchairs, mobility scooters and mobility trikes)
E-scooters
Mopeds and motorcycles
Cars
Taxis
Light, medium and heavy goods vehicles
Buses and coaches

This data will help us understand how different journeys are made and will support plans for the evolution of our city centre transport network. No registration or personal data will be recorded.
