We have received notification from British Telecom (BT) that they propose to remove the payphone outside 149, Chaucer Road, Sheffield S5 9QN.
BT state that this payphone has been damaged beyond economical repair and that they have assessed it using the criteria in Ofcom’s Review of the telephony universal service obligation. If you wish to comment on these proposals please do so below by Friday 22 August. You can also include any reasons why you think the payphone should stay or be removed. All comments will be presented to BT and will be taken into account when they make their final decision.
To make sure that the local community are fully informed, BT have placed a notice (including the posting date) on this payphone.

If the Council is to object to the removal of a payphone, it must be supported by relevant evidence, specifically relating to local factors that show a reasonable end-user need for that payphone.
