Abbeydale Road Tesco junction works - January 2025

The next part of the work on the Connecting Sheffield: Abbeydale Road and Ecclesall Road project is due to start on Monday 3 February.

To improve bus reliability, we will begin work at the Tesco junction to prepare for changes to the road layout to install a new bus lane towards the city centre.

We’ll do the work in phases around this junction, and we’ll always make sure there is one lane available for traffic heading towards the city centre. We will use the existing traffic lights, but we may need to use temporary signals as works progress. If we do, they’ll use the same signal sequence as the current lights do.

When the work is completed, the bus lane will bypass the new junction traffic signal, ensuring a quicker journey into town by bus, and providing easier access to and from Tesco.
